@DeeVine1217:  I was supposed to go, but decided not to (oops, lazy bride here)

I was glad we didn’t go though since Randy wasn’t there.  I find Ottawa pretty weak for everything event related πŸ™

I do have some suggestions for vendors if you need! I graduated event management so I got to know a bunch pretty well, and we’ve already picked all of ours for our day too. PM if you want some info πŸ™‚

I’m not sure what the name of the wedding show at Lansdown was called, but I went to that twice and it was pretty good.  We found our invitations there, and got the groom and his groomsmen suit figured out as well.  We won a ton of stuff by entering draws, and overall it was useful.

I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me now…but I don’t think it was the Palace Bridal Show.  With Lansdown being completely torn up, I’m sure they’ve just moved locations.

@DeeVine1217:  I went too (on Saturday) with my best friend and was colosally disappointed.  We ended up ditching it and went to the clearance sale at Sears (shoes!!) and then I ordered my wedding shoes at Nine West.

I did, however, pick up a copy of Ottawa Wedding Magazine on the way out and found (another) dress and my photographer (who I already knew but didn’t know he did wedding photography)

There weren’t any vendors there that I was hoping to see, like shoes or accessories, or funky options for favours and stuff. I’m sad to hear Randy didn’t make it but I’m sort of glad for him!

@DeeVine1217:  I’m glad you got some information and a $100 off something! I actually got to chat with the events co-ordinator from the Courtyard which was good.

Are you having a flower girl? And if you are, do you have any suggestions for places to get their dresses or shoes.  I’m thinking that Vasto on Preston might be good for shoes but I don’t want a big frilly dress. Guess I’ll have to take a look.

Happy planning!

TO – DeeVine1217:  you said,

Yeah, tell me about it! I got this magazine based out of MTL while at the show and I was so impressed with the amount of venues, companies, etc that Montreal has to offer. I wish Ottawa would step it up!

True enough… but then again look at the difference in populations !!

Montreal being Canada’s second largest city !!

City to City… Montreal has 1.6 Million People – Ottawa half that at just over 800,000

Metro to Metro… Montreal has 3.8 Million – and Ottawa 1.2 Million

Truly, you are comparing Apples to Oranges really… altho I agree Ottawa could do a better job at advertising what is available.

@This Time Round:  True, but we are the nation’s capital and supposedly a cosmopolitan city. And quite frankly, the bridal show was shockingly disappointing with tiny booths, a plethora of photographers, and not a lot of the type of vendors that provide those little things that you might be looking for and have no idea where to get them.

Ottawa is the worse in terms of variety of Vendons…there are a limited few and they seem so cocky and charge an arm and a leg without really delivering. I was pretty disspointed with the vendors in Ottawa. And the ones I went with… I feel like I could have done sooo much better but I was planning my wedding for TWO years and have no idea how I could have done a better job in choosing the vendors. πŸ™

Anyways, I just posted a vendor review if anyone is interested…Ultimately, I suggest you choose the smaller and younger vendors, they really try everything in their power to give you what YOU really want. Theyre honest and don’t take advantage….like some vendors I wont mention *cough* FLOWER TALK *cough*

πŸ™‚

Let me know if you need any advice!
