@rosered879:  Where is your wedding?  Maybe some people on here can help you find a new caterer.

Did you try calling them? This deserves an explanation.

@rosered879:  Or maybe 6 or 7 of them.  I wish I was closer and could help more than to just say I am sorry you are going through this. <3

That’s a really tough situation. Despite their difficulties, you certainly should get your deposit back. Did you have a contract? You should be legally entitled to it.

Secondly, great idea to contact all the local restaraunts in the area. How many people are you having? I’m always surprised by who caters when I see “we do catering” signs. This situation really sucks but I’m sure there would be a restaurant that could use the business that would love to do it. Good luck!

@rosered879:  I would def respond back requesting all monies you hvae give them up until this point. but first, start shopping for a new caterer. You will find one, dont worry lady! the universe is not telling you anything. sometimes you must go through hard times to get to the great times! 😀 its all worth it lady!

@rosered879:  wow thats horrible, hopefully they will have some kind of insurance to refund you the deposit.  Was it a large deposit?   I think first things first you need to find another caterer, maybe they could recommend one to you? I would write back and say,

Dear X,

I am very sorry for your loss, thank you for the quick reply letting me know that you are no longer able to cater my wedding.  My bank account details for the return of my deposit of $x is Bank xxxxxxxxxxxx.  In addition can you please recommend to me another caterer that I can contact immediately to see if they can cater my event on x date.

Kind regards,

rosered.

That way you are giving them all details up front of what you paid, & what your details are so they dont have to search through records etc and hopefully you can get your depst back asap and a recomendation to another good caterer.  Good luck, and the universe is not trying to tell you anything….

@rosered879:  Try contacting the local restaurants with a message like,

“Hi!  I love your food and was wondering whether you have ever catered an event before.  My caterer was xxx, but due to the death in their family, they are no longer able to cater my wedding on August 5th.  Could you help me out?”

Maybe word it a bit differently but you get the idea.

I’m so sorry this has happened to u, that sounds awful! I would also agree with the PP here though and call around all local restaurants and see if they can cater for the wedding. Did you want a sit-down menu, buffet, or cocktail reception?

Maybe you could change to a buffet style as a last resort, and plenty of places could put together beautiful platters for a buffet, and then you’d only have to hire catering staff, which would be I think not too hard to find. I went to a wedding that had a dessert buffet and it was really yummy and it included the wedding cake, so it was really fun!

Otherwise, maybe even try caters in the bigger cities, Bremerton or even Seattle, because some caters are prepared to travel if you would have all the kitchen facilities in your venue.

Good luck! 🙂

Did you pay your deposit by check or by credit card?
