Well, many advised me ( here and otherwise) that it ain’t over til it’s over and to just be prepared for the fall out, in case something falls through last minute. Well, it did. I will spare the gory details, but first time home buyers… be mindful that things can definitely get derailed, even after offers have been made/accepted/agreed upon.
Darling Husband and I have decided to take a break until we feel “ready” again to start looking for a home. Luckily for us, our apartment allowed us to stay and extend our lease… even though we were just days away from closing on the house.
At least this gives me more time to pack for if when we do finally move! haha

Boo! I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds like you’ve had a very stressful first-home buying experience. Hoping things go much more smoothly when you guys are feeling up to searching again!

Yep when buying a house anything can happen until you actually sign the paper work! Definately take a break and regroup…

Oh no! That’s awful, as someone in the process of buying a home this is something I loose sleep worrying about. Last year we took a similar break after we realised how dissapointing the current market was, and now (hopefully) we’re getting a much better house then we would have if we had tried to slog through it.

@Mrs.KMM: I hope so, too! Just a rough first time experience with us… so I am betting it will be better once we take a breather
@Sassygrn: oh yeah, we were pretty far into the process of having all of the paperwork ready, inspections done and the sellers even moved out in prep for a close date– then it all went to mush with the appraisal :/
@batwoman: that sounds like we are going to do, we signed another 6 month lease with our current apt and will test the waters ( maybe) in a few months to a year

Hugs. Now that you’ve gone through the heartbreak, it will be easier next time to start anew. You will be more wise and jaded, but that’s a very good thing to be when buying a house. Chin up. It gets better.

I’m sorry to hear that! Sounds like you’re keeping a great attitude about the whole thing, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with. Hang in there! Crossing my fingers that when you’re ready to look again, you’ll find something even more perfect!

I know this thread is 4 hours old but I just figured out I used loose in instead of lose in my post and now it’s driving me crazy!
Well it sounds like you dodged a bullet at least OP!

Sorry to hear. Hope it doesn’t sound too sugarcoated but maybe it wasn’t meant to be. You will find something better.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that! I think taking a break is definitely a good idea, and I am glad that you were able to continue your lease with your apartment. I am sure you will find something perfect for you when you start looking again! Best of luck to you!
