- Wedding: April 2010
So… it’s been a little bit since my Fiance & I got engaged, but I’ve just recently mustered up the courage to start being more active on the Bee boards (plus I’ve been super busy moving), so I finally decided to post the story of our engagement!
Just a little background, we’ve been dating for 6 years & our first date was at Disneyland in June 2003. He is my first relationship (we met after my 1st year of college), I never dated throughout high school or anything. We had been talking about future plans for a little while, but we pretty much knew right away that it was meant to be but I wanted to take it slow.
We had a trip planned to go to Walt Disney World for a week. I was thinking to myself “Oh this could be it!! Oh this could be it!! Well… shortly before the trip, Fiance started talking about how we weren’t in the best situation at the time, he wanted to save more money, etc… and that totally derailed me from thinking it was going to happen. (Little did I know… he totally planned out those conversations so I wouldn’t expect anything… and it totally worked, I was just super psyched for a relaxing trip!)
The first evening of the trip began in the Magic Kindom of Walt Disney World, Florida. We skipped through Main Street, went on some rides, and got the amazing pineapple floats from the Tiki Room! When the night was drawing to a close, we walked back towards my favorite spot in the park, the Castle & Cinderella’s Wishing Well.
When we got there, Mr.Disney reached in his pocket and pulled out three pennies in the shape of Mickey’s head in his hand. He gave me one, he took one, and slipped the third back in his pocket. He said that we were each going to make a wish & toss our pennies into the wishing well! After we did that, we were enjoying the moment looking at the lights changing on the Castle, and he began to sing to me, Cinderella’s “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” I totally melted (He’s not a singer normally at all! I couldn’t believe he was singing to me!) As the song came to an end, he got down on one knee and pulled out a tiny box with the most gorgeous ring I’ve ever seen, and said,
“I love you with all my heart & you’ll always be my princess. Will you make my dreams come true and marry me?”
Through the ecstatic tears of joy, when I found the words to speak, of course I said yes!! He then pulled out of his pocket the third penny and told me, “We can make a wish together for our future plans as husband and wife.”
And now… I’m going to marry my Prince Charming at the place of our first date, Disneyland, CA!
