so pretty! congrats! cute pics too sorry you got lambasted! don’t sweat the negativity! when someone says why they chose white gold over platinum or whatever else i don’t notice people taking someone’s individual choice and opinions so personally like i see with this. your choice is your own! whether i like rock 1 or rock 2 or if i strap a banana to my hand and call it an engagement ring, it ain’t about me! it’s about you! enjoy your new ring and exciting engagement! i’ve never seen anything like this besides on these boards. keep on keeping on, i see you’re a newbie, don’t be scared away!

@mamadingdong:  +1. If moissanite is so much better than diamonds, why not just let it speak for itself? I don’t see people needing to justify diamonds.

@SKG1023:

Coming from someone who does not have the money for a huge gorgeous stone (college student), I think Moissanite is the best option for me! I also love a little extra sparkle 🙂 so yes, I find Moissy superior. But, I would be lying if I said I didn’t grow up dreaming of my huge gorgeous diamond ring. And I can also say that if I was rich I would probably have looked down on Moissy becuase, lets be honest, who wouldn’t? If I spent 10,000 on a ring and saw a girl spend 1,500 and say hers was better I would be furious. So lets just have the respect to love our own stones and think they are the best ofr us but also be open to others having different choices for what stone is best for them!

@canarydiamond:  they don’t need to justify because diamonds are already the most opopular. you don’t need to justify something that pretty much every other person has. That is a moot point.

Your ring is lovely!! i love your setting, so unique! did you get it custom-made?

my boyfriend and I are currently searching for a ring, We can’t afford a diamond either because we are college students (But graduating this year yay!)

Im thinking of getting a colorful gemstone, but a hard one (like 9 on the mohs scale) so sapphire or ruby.

I can tell your beaming with joy about your ring and wanted to share it with other people 🙂 Thanks for the post!

Your ring is lovely. I went with diamond for odd reasons I won’t explain here. I LOVE  my diamond but really LOVE moissanite too. I will eventually be getting one I know. Moissanite just appeals to my frugal nature and I also love that it has that double refraction. I’ll probably go Amora or Forever Brilliant but I also love how the untreated moissanite shows some color. In fact that is why I love the older, not as white, diamonds with the chunkier facets. As much as I love my diamond I sometimes get kind of sick due to my frugal nature thinking we could have saved five thousand dollars by going moissie. And I worry WAY more about losing my diamond and need to get it insured. I probably wouldn’t have such extreme worry with a moissie.

I respect everyone’s choice, for whatever reason they get either moissie or diamond but I feel some people really mistook your original post. As a person who chose diamond(albeit for a weird reason)…..I was not at all offended by anything you said. And I didn’t think you were trashing anyone’s choice for buying a diamond. We buy what we like or can afford. Simple as that.

@chillinchillin:  “when someone chooses white gold over platinum this doesn’t happen”

Spot on.

To everyone and no-one, or whomever it applies, including myself: People choose what is best for them. That’s generally why they choose it. There are going to be people who even think your choice is rubbish. That does not make your choice objectively rubbish. It isn’t polite to say something is rubbish to someone who has that thing and it’s better to say why your thing is nice in and of itself, i.e I like Sweet Potato because it’s delicious not because it’s a “better” version of a regular potato. I do happen to think its better but I doubt that offends anyone if they realise that by that what I really mean is “it’s particular qualities are far more appealing to me and my sensibilities”.

Essentially – “team moissanite”: Try to compare less, opinions are fine but it doesn’t mean people won’t get hurt. We got an awesome deal but other people have different priorities and needs, whats best for us isn’t best full stop 🙂

“team diamond”: Try to remember that when people don’t like something it doesn’t mean they judge you. It’s ok to not all have the same favourites. “Expensive” isn’t insulting, some people like the luxury of expensive things, I like expensive make up, I’m sure there’s a lipstick out there that’s as good as my Guerlain for less but I like what I like, others might think i’m mad, but i’m happy!

@SKG1023:  What the heck is wrong with all these people? She loves her ring and is excited about it. I love round brilliant stones. If someone says that the princess cut is superior, so what? That’s their opinion. i’m not going to fight them on it or accuse them of being insensitive. Buck up, bees! The point is that only someone so insecure about their own ring would make a fuss about this. She has a gorgeous ring and this is her thread. She wasn’t insulting anyone. She even clarified that to anyone who thought otherwise and people were still being disgustingly rude. Why is this even an issue? This is pathetic. We should all be on here to congratulate and be excited for each other. SKG, you have a lovely ring and I hope you don’t let these “Debbie Downers” rain on your parade. They’re not worth it! :o)

FYI, Moissanite is conflict free (no lives were lost like blood diamonds), considerably less expensive, environmentally friendly (the earth doesn’t need to destroyed to be mined because it’s lab created), it’s flawless, and flashier and sparklier than diamonds!

I only have diamonds but I would love a Moissy one day! I think it’s a great idea and can’t understand why people are making such a fuss over this.

I LOOOOVE the raised detail on it. I am having a custom wedding band made (and a custome ering) and am having my SO’s name “engraved” in cursive onto the band, the part that’s visible, not the inside. I am having it raised like the detail on your band. I love it!
