I came home to an enormous DHL bag today!
My Lace Marry dress, my daughter’s bridesmaid dress, and a veil (not sure about the veil, but we’ll get to that) were inside.
I couldn’t do up the buttons on the back, so the off the shoulder neckline looks a little messed up. Once I have someone to do the buttoning I’ll be able to see it completely.
Also, the measurements are perfect except the waist which is tight. I can get the zipper up but just. I’m a little anxious about that since I’ve recently dropped 8 pounds, so I’m hoping a seamstress can ease it a little. Otherwise it’s lettuce and water for me for the next 5 months…
I have to admit it’s weird to now try on my dress… I loved the off the shoulder silhouette when I tried it on in stores, now I don’t know… And I’m worried I look huge in it. And I’m not sure about my floral belt (which I absolutely loved when I bought it). I even am doubting the champagne colour… One minute I love the colour, the next I think it looks too yellow. Maybe I just need to let things settle for a bit and I will love it. What do you think?
Here are some really bad selfies:
And here it is with the veil. I’m not sure about the veil. Partly because I’m a 37 year old mother, and partly because I’m just not sure I like it… However, it does have a nice vintage vibe, which is what I’m going for. I may just stick with the blingy headband I’m wearing (but that can’t be seen very well in the pictures) and call it a day.

mikesgirl123 : You are doing what all us brides do, so please listen to my next words: You ABSOULTELY do not look huge, at all. You look beautiful & the cut is very flattering with your shape.

Oh girl! You look beautiful. The dress is VERY flattering on you.
How long did it take for you to get the dress from Lace Marry?

Your waist looks tiny!! You look so good!!

The dress looks great! Definitely not too yellow. Definitely not looking huge.
I dont love the veil WITH the dress, but thats an easy sell on FB if you want to get your $ back.

Even bad selfies can’t conceal how beautiful you look. Congratualtions. Your dress is stunning. Personally I thinkthe off the shoulder sleeves are a winner.
The colour looks lovely and it makes the beautiful lace stand out more. I like the veil too.
Well done to you and Lace Marry!

Very pretty dress!
I also felt huge in mine- I don’t know about you, but I don’t wear big poofy structured skirts that often. It took some moving around in mine and a lot of looking in the mirror before my eye felt calibrated to what I was seeing- specifically that that was the tulle, not my hips. 🙂
I like the warmth of the color, personally- it doesn’t look yellow, it just looks softer to me than a stark white.
The belt is pretty, but if you decide that the flowers compete with the lace detail, the side shot you took makes it clear that a plain off-white sash complements your dress well too. The veil looks very Grace Kelly to me. Is that what you’re going for?

Thanks everyone! I’m actually feeling a lot calmer and a lot happier already. I think I just needed to adjust to realizing that I had *my* dress and there was no more worrying and wondering and stressing.
I ordered and paid for the dress January 2 but it took a bit for me to get my measurements and receive the fabric samples and choose my colour. I’d say it took about 10 weeks after I gave Mary all the necessary information.
Yeah, I don’t think I love the veil either. I’m leaning towards no veil. It wasn’t an expensive veil so I may just pass it on to someone who wants it.
That’s good feedback about the sash. I may play around with it a bit and see if I like the look of a plain sash. And, yes, I’m going for a Grace Kelly era look. I’m worried the veil competes with the dress and is, perhaps, just too much fabric… I’ll see if it grows on me…
Unfortunately, we tried on my 11-year-old daughter’s dress and it’s a no go. I want to make it clear that this is through no fault of Lace Marry. My daughter picked a bodice from one dress and a skirt from another. She picked a colour square on Google for what she felt was the perfect shade of silver. She was so excited! We sent off her measurements… And she proceeded to have a massive growth spurt. The dress is supposed to be knee length and it currently hits about an inch above the top of her knee. The skirt is flared and we both agree that while it works now if she grows at all between now and the end of September it will be too much leg. We happened to have just bought her a dress from Light In The Box for Easter. It’s light pink, which works with my colour scheme. It also has growing room and needed to be altered. So we have decided we are switching dresses. Her Lace Marry dress will now be her Easter dress and her Light in the Box dress will be her bridesmaid dress (and we will wait to take it in until right before the wedding). All’s well that ends well I guess…
