Hi, my Fiance and I chose our menu this morning. Please let me know what you think..do you think there is a variety in hors d’oeuvres? anything else? I want to make sure everything doesn’t fit in the same type of category
1. mini grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup “shooters”
2.curried chicken salad profiteroles
3. seasonal crispy vegetable tempura with soy ginger dipping sauce
4. tempura shrimp with soy-ginger sauce
5. scallops wrapped with bacon, green onion and curry
Salad of sienna farm greens with mozzarella, balsamic vinagrette dressing
Choice of: Sweet English Pea Ravioli OR Sashimi of Yellowfin Tuna
Roasted Breast of Giannone Chicken, marinated heirloom tomatoes, picked onions and thym jus
Seared marinated hangar steak with blue cheese crushed potatoes, britter greens and beurre rouge
dessert buffet (variety) and wedding cake, coffee and tea

Your entrees sound super yummy!
My only worry is most of your appetizers are fried or greasy. I know tempura is lighter than typical breaded/fried foods but it is still a lot of grease. The bacon wrapped scallops and grilled cheese also have a grease factor. I know after eating all that my tummy probably wouldn’t be able to handle eating the main course.

I personally LOVE all things fried. But you might want to swap out one of the tempuras for something a little lighter? Spring rolls if you want an asian influence maybe? But I’d love to be a guest at your wedding, the rest sounds delicious!

Great – what if we ask them to swap out one of the tempura’s for a capri style salad appetizer?

Sounds very yummy! I went to a wedding that had the grilled cheese and soup and it was a huge hit. That ravioli sounds very yummy!

@luli29: I think that swap sounds good!

I would personally be a very happy camper if I was a guest at your wedding! Yumm….

I agree with everyone else. If you swap one of the fried things out, you’re doing great. Do you have any vegetarians that you need a vegetarian entree for? Other than that, I’d be very excited to be eating at your wedding!

Sounds delicious! Can I come?

Your menu just made me hungry! Everything sounds delish. I would agree w/babyboo about the grease factor w/the apps and would swamp it for the salad suggestion you made.

Sounds totally fantastic…. I wouldn’t change a thing…..but I seriously want to attend your reception and eat that yummy food…… ~ lol ~ hugz M <3

It all soun ds yummy, but every appetized is high in fat, so dieting or those that have light appetites might have a tough time. People might be full before dinner! LOL!
Maybe get rid of the shrimp temura, since you also have scallops and veggie tempura, and replace it with a carpaccio or some lean beef app? I think a beef or pork that is “clean” and not fried would be nice! Or another veggie that is not fried.
Otherwise, great job!

That sounds GREAT! I love the grilled cheese idea – how cute!

Sounds pretty yummy to me! I agree with the comments before about the appetizers, though. Maybe sub in something else more fresh and less fried. (But the grilled cheese must stay; that sounds awesome!)

@sapphirebride: dinner will include a vegetarian option!
Ladies, thaks for your comments. I have asked if we can have another option of something light, salad like for hors d’oeuvres. Additionally, I’m gonna see if we only do 4 apps, not 5 (grilled cheese, shrimp tempura, scallops, and the new option)
