I would check with a lawyer.  I think that since you had a signed contract that she can’t back out to “visit” her cousin. I think you have case to sue her.  Look at your contract and see what the cancellation clause says.

I’m happy you found someone better AND cheaper! What a great development.

Did you pay anything to the original one? I would try to get it back if you did. Oh, and I definitely would leave some online reviews because that is CRAZY that she would back out for that reason. And, no offense, but who contacts their client via FB?

Agree that online reviews are a great idea. What sort of “professional” does this? Good luck with booking any future weddings- think of all the referrals she potentially lost (found my photographer from another Bee.)

You’ve gotten your deposit back, right?

Did you sign a contract and pay a deposit to the original photographer? If so, she needs to refund you 100%. That’s totally unprofessional of her. I’m glad you found another photographer and it’s saving you some $$$.

That’s nuts, not even a phone call?  A facebook message?   Consider yourself lucky that she didn’t shoot your wedding and THEN lose interest.  These flakes give the whole industry a bad wrap.

And the lesson in this story is this is what can happen when you are taking a chance on going the student/craigslst route.
