Everyone!!!! I introduced myself a few weeks ago as a waiting bee and I got engaged last weekend and wanted to share the story!!! It’s long so bear with me!!
I’ve known that the proposal was coming before New Years but I had no idea when it would be. For some reason I assumed my SO would do it on Christmas. I hoped that he wouldn’t because I really wanted it to be just us but after waiting I was happy for anything!
So the Saturday before last I was frustrated because we had been so busy and hadn’t had very much time to spend with each other just us so he asked if I would go out with him on a fancy-ish date the next Friday. I was really excited but I didn’t think that it would be the night of the proposal. I did get a little suspicious when he made me take down our calendar (it’s a dry erase one in our kitchen) and change it to the month of December (it was still set up for November…oops!!) JUST so that I could put our date night on the calendar. All week I was trying to find the perfect outfit and the week went by soooooooooo slow because I was so excited about our date.
On Friday he called me and told me that he had changed our dinner reservations. Instead of them being at 7:30 like we had planned he said that he had them changed to 9:30 because he had a surprise for me!! So I got home and got ready really quickly and we left. He surprised me by taking me to the Nutcracker Ballet! It was perfect because I had been wanting to go and he had never seen it before. Afterward we sat on a bench outside the theater in a gorgeous lantern lit street. I told myself that if he was going to propose he would do it there. Well, he didn’t. I started to prepare myself to not be upset because it wasn’t going to happen. We walked to our restaurant because it was only about a block and a half away and had dinner. We were seated in a shadowy, secluded corner and this restaurant is lit by candlelight so it was very romantic. We had an amazing dinner and right after we ordered dessert to share he got up and went to the bathroom.
When he came back to the table he turned toward me and started to tell me how much he loved me. Then he paused and asked “When I propose would you rather it be in somewhere nice like this or outside in like a garden?” I was very confused and told him that I want him to decide. After about a minute he said “I’ve decided.” He pulled me to the corner of our booth and he got down on one knee and proposed!!! Right before that I had taken a drink of water and I spit it into his face haha but it was still perfect!! I said yes, we enjoyed dinner and then we set outside on a bench and woke up our family with the news!!! I’m including a picture of my ring, its sooooo me!
