Background info…we had a beautiful, romantic, private wedding ceremony on the island of Santorini, Greece whilst on holiday in Europe, followed by a 76 person reception 2 weeks later in Sydney, so all of our family could come together and celebrate our nuptials. We had pre-drinks for 2 hours where we captured lots of group family photos at Quay Bar near the Sydney Opera House, followed by dinner at a Greek restaurant nearby. We decorated the restaurant in all white to match out all white wedding ceremony location and it had a big mural of Santorini painted on the wall which made for some great photos! We’ve already put some of our wedding photos up on weddingbee so I thought it was about time I post some of our favourite reception pics too. We are not Greek but everyone went with it and the MC had us plate smashing, Zorbaing, dancing and cheersing the night away! It was the funnest, craziest, most hilarious night of my life!
Pre-drinks group photo (one of many):
Upon arrival to the restaurant, people we given signature cocktails (white russians) and we played a slideshow of our wedding ceremony photos from Santorini, (background music was Everytime we Touch by Cascada) where everyone had a little tear in their eye. Here is my mother-in-law watching the slideshow:
At the end of the slideshow, the MC introduced us to our guests as Mr and Mrs Ryan:
Then there were some speeches :
People ate their yummy dinner and we got some cool photos in front of the mural. Here is mum and me and our totally awesome Aunt and Uncle:
Then, the moment we’d all been waiting for… they opened the dance floor !
People mingled, drank lots, ate lots, had a laugh and had a dance. Then we got to cake cutting. We had a cake display table, 5 cakes in total because we couldn’t decide on one flavour! A ‘lets get loose mousse cake, a stut yout stuff strawberry sponge, a say cheese cake, a don’t be a stick in the mud cake and our delicious Grand Marnier infused vanilla sponge wedding cake:
Followed by our first dance. We did a jive to “You give me something” by Jamiroquai. Can’t believe we pulled it off because we only practised ONCE the whole time we were on holiday!
The dancefloor kicked off again and the kids showed us some serious break dancing moves:
We had the father daughter dance and our MC announced the plate smashing !
After smashing plates and Zorba-ing :
Things got a bit loosey goosey
And then it was time to say good bye to our FANTASTIC photographer Rose who did an amazing job at capturing how much fun we had at our reception
After Rose left, we had the limo pick us up and we drove to the Sydney harbour bride, took some drunky messy photos and then parited into the wee hours. What a night !!
