is there another town that’s not too far with a hotel?

if you’re getting married over fourth of july weekend on a lake, things will probably book quickly. i would hurry and set up a few more room blocks in neighboring towns.

You could look into vacation house rentals.  I went to a wedding recently where the families of the bride and groom both rented out big vacation houses and all stayed together.  They all had a really good time and spent less money then they would have at the hotel.

Good luck!

Maybe you could set up some kind of designated driver or shuttle for the other hotels; I wouldn’t want them to drive at all after drinking.

Get another block of hotels and get a shuttle for your guests. Might be a little pricier than what you were planning on – but it’s worth it.

Our guests are staying in hotel blocks about 15 mines from our venue – ceremony and reception. We were also concerned about the driving/drinking thing as well as the fact that it’s a semi-desitination wedding – we’re getting married in VT and like 75% of the guests will be traveling there from 250-500 miles away. So to alleviate the driving issue we decided to hire transportation for our guests – we’re doing a shuttle service from the hotel to the venue 🙂
