I know that there must be some bees out there that are looking at potentially using Sam’s Club for their bulk flower order. So, I thought it might be helpful to see my flowers that came in today. Our wedding is on Saturday, so I’ll write an update when the time comes to describe how they held up on the day of.
(3 orders) of the 100 stems of mini sunflowers= 300 mini sunflowers
(3 orders) of the Assorted Filler Flowers 8 bunches= 24 bunches of assorted filler flowers
They arrived today on the fedex truck at around 11:45 today. I am completely impressed. They are gorgeous!! Someone did have to sign for the package, which is fine since the flowers need to be cut and put in water immediately. I totally underestimated how big of a job this was. It took over three hours and I broke two pairs of scissors! I would recommend having some help, wire cutters, and a possible some tin snips. My order did not come with any flower preserver as stated, but I was able to buy a little from a local flower shop.
Now, enough talk…onto the photos…
The flowers arrived in six boxes:
This is what the boxes of sunflowers looked like. The box includes 100 sunflowers in bunches of 10 flowers
Here are all 600 sunflowers laid out on the picnic table
There were four types of assorted flowers. This is the first. I have no idea what it is but it is on a branch with pine-type needles and hard red buds on the end that look like raspberries. If anyone knows what this is, let me know!
There were also hypericum berries which were gorgeous…
And then Queen Anne’s Lace and a pretty purple flower…
Here is the table full of “assorted filler flowers.” They are all so pretty!!
Now, let’s just hope they stay this pretty until Saturday!

Would you be willing to post a breakdown of how much the flowers cost you? I’ve been considering DIY’ing and I would love to hear of how much of a savings you found.

Wow they look so great. Thank you for posting. Though my florist is making my centerpieces, my sisters and I are making our bouts and bouquets. Now I know where I can get some great flowers.

Thanks ladies. I ordered the flowers four days ahead of time because of a review on the Sam’s site about the sunflowers stated that they were very closed up and three days was not enough to allow the to open, but as you can see they are open and beautiful now. I am hoping that they are going to stay that way! I have them down in a very dark part of my basement and have turned down the temperature to 65 degrees in our house.
@MsBrooklynA: Sure! Our total, including tax, shipping, and a $10 Sam’s Club “guest” fee, was $309.57. (All the prices listed on the Sam’s Club website include shipping). Each order of 100 sunflowers was $37.68, equaling $113.04 for all 600 (about 19 cents per stem). Each order of 8 bunches of assorted flowers was $52.66, equaling $157.98 for the total of 24 bunches.
We’re having a country rustic wedding, so we will put the centerpieces in pint sized mason jars which we already have laying around from canning season. So, really this is the total cost of everything involved for our centerpieces and my bouquet (we aren’t having a wedding party). Pretty good I think!
