ScottSouth and I found the perfect wedding officiant in my MOH’s father. He shared our values, his own marriage was long-lasting and full of love, and he had stage presence. However, after he got ordained via the internet, we did some research and found that NC is weird about internet ordinations. There was a slight chance that if our marriage were ever challenged in court it wouldn’t hold up.
We decided to do a courthouse marriage just to be sure everything was nice and legal. So, after the rehearsal dinner, we went out with about ten friends to wait until midnight. At the appointed hour, we headed to the magistrate’s office to become husband and wife!
We arrived in a rickshaw…
About five minutes after this last picture, my drunk and happy-for-us stepbrother decided to express his joy by vaulting over a public trashcan… which was NOT bolted down. I didn’t get the chance to say goodnight to my new husband because he had to whisk my stepbrother off to get a bunch of stitches. (!!!) Even with that mishap, it was pretty awesome. We got one barely-planned, small, intimate wedding with friends and one very-planned, significantly bigger wedding with everyone else.

Yay congratulations! Now you know he won’t run! Lol.

This looks like so much fun! Well . . . minus the stitches, although that was somewhat entertaining. Congrats!

Aww, that’s great but now I’m a little worried. We were married by my cousin who was ordained online. Pretty sure it’s legit in NY (no one told us otherwise) but hmm, maybe we should have gone this route too. Oh well. Guess we’ll have to wait and see, lol.

Interesting! I wanted my brother or someone in the family to become ordained online, but I heard that certain parts of Jersey are weird about it or something. Perhaps we’ll go this route as well. Part of me feels like it’ll just be easier to find someone is able to do it.

@AJester2: No worries. If I was planning on running at all, I certainly wouldn’t be posting on the Bee all the time about how excited I am about our wedding and marriage.

Congratulations! You look so happy 🙂

@scottsouth: @sarasouth: Were you two on the bee at the same time? Because that would be amazing.

I absolutely love this idea!! Congratulations!

@asscherlover: She joined about a year ago, and though she told me about some posts and threads and I stalked her on here a little bit, I didn’t join myself until about a month after our engagement, but we’ve both been around posting semi-frequently since then. And we did spend a large part of yesterday morning together in the same room on different computers posting on the Bee at the same time. Sometimes we’re nerds like that.

Wow, so you can get married in the middle of the night? Cool!!
I actually called the Attorney General’s office in Maryland, and had someone spend a couple hours researching to make sure that getting my brother ordained would work. Turns out, online ordination is totally legal here, so we are legally married by my brother.

@scottsouth: Thats cute. I wish my Fiance liked the bee. He puts up with it though, which I’m pretty sure is what most guys do.
