- Wedding: August 2012
I will start by saying that we had 2 weddings: first, small and intimate beautiful civil wedding in one country and then a religious ceremony and wedding party in another country.
It’s been already sometime since we got married, but every time something wedding related crosses my mind, I still get an extremely strong feeling of excitement and euphoria – words cannot describe it! I can certainly say that the whole wedding preparation and the outcome have had a strong positive effect on my emotional well-being. 🙂
I have to admit I was not very excited at first about organizing the second wedding (since I always dreamed of a small and intimate wedding and I had already got it at that time)….UNTIL… I saw a photo of a world map for seating arrangement and that was the AHA moment! The Travel Themed Wedding was so much about us since we love travelling! Ideas started coming and coming and the fact that it was so original (none of our guests had seen something like that before) made it truly a success and a wedding to remember!
Here is our custom made passport invitation.
As I mentioned seating arrangement was represented on a world map. Tables were named after countries we have travelled to with a photo of the 2 of us taken in those countries.
Favors for guests were candies in little paper suitcases with a name tag on them.
And here is my favorite part: travel themed corner!
By the way, when my husband saw the passport invitation first time, he immediately came up with the idea that we should have a passport control game at the wedding. The best man will be walking around with a police hat (my idea) and asking people to present their passport. Those who did not have the passport on them (most of them didn’t of course, that was the whole point), got a stamp on their body (the stamp rubber was custom made with our names on it – ordered from etsy) and had to drink a shot of whiskey. It was a lot of fun! Those who were checked by the police, also known as best man twice and had to have their punishment shot again, danced all night long.
As you could see already the theme color was purple. Here are some more photos:
