We signed a contract with our venue when it looked like this (and got a very good deal as a result):
That was Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyard back in the winter, when we visited.
Risky? Sure. However, the people involved with this new vineyard are extremely accomplished in their respective fields and we felt really comfortable with their plans. Their first wedding was last weekend and they opened the tasting room up today for the first time.
I’m overjoyed at what we found there today. Oddly, there wasn’t another Pippin Hill couple in the crowd…but that meant we got a little tour…
The grassy area ahead is where the ceremony will be…
The Tasting Room (rain site for the ceremony)
The guy’s loft is up above the tasting room…
The Granery, where our reception will be…
These are the standard linens and table settings…
The view from the reception room…
The bridal loft is the best of all…
The custom armoire that was made just for those pictures of dresses on hangers. 🙂
The loft has a balcony that looks out onto the reception area…

WOW! That place was so designed to host weddings! Congrats on snagging the place before they become super popular (and jack up their pricing)!

A couple more…
Isn’t that cute?
By next year, the vines should be much taller.
They have old school water pumps that feed into pools that then drain into these troughs…
The views are gorgeous…

@JoJo Bananas: One of the people involved in building it is a HUGE name in the wedding planning industry. Her weddings are in The Knot, on Style Me Pretty (here are two of her weddings on SMP), etc. I had no doubts when I found out that she was involved. Her husband used to work for Orient Express and he’s part of the team, too.
The wine consultant is Michael Schapps (big name around here) and the executive chef is Craig Hartman, who used to work for Keswick Hall, the Orient Express hotel in Charlottesville.
We signed on so early that we got an amazing deal. Someone told me that the prices would jump dramatically as soon as they opened. Part of me wants to inquire to see what they are charging now. 🙂

The site says its $7500 for Saturdays between May & October. I’m from MD and this makes me almost want to make the 4 hour drive there!! Beautiful!!!

@wstonesifer707: We’re having a Friday wedding (which also helped reduce the cost) and we got a discount on top of that in light of what the place looked like when were signed on.
The other venue that is of the same caliber in town goes up in price by $1000 each year. I imagine this place might be the same.
