Today I was informed that there won’t be a member of the staff at our venue available for either our rehearsal or wedding and that we’re pretty much going to be on our own. Is this normal? I was informed not by the venue themselves but rather an events coordinator who regularly works there. I mean when you’re talking to an event coordinator you expect some kind of coordination right? Otherwise it is just “event booking” I’m now getting ready to panic. DOC is NOT in the budget. What to do!?

Do you have a friend or family member who can help out? This person should be reliable, organized, creative and handle multiplle tasks. This person or persons could help cue the bridal party as they proceed in the ceremony. Maybe you can ask the officiant for suggestions regarding the ceremony program and timeline. As for the reception, talk to your MC/DJ and banquet captain to make it a smoother party. If you’re still not comfortable, hire a day of coordinator you can afford – check with local bridal planning organizations for their recommendations.
