- Wedding: January 2011
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong section but here’s my wedding story.
My fiance and I are bikers, we wanted a camping/biker wedding but with a move to North Carolina and the fact that
we’d be in Baja Sur already in January….we opted for sooner rather than later (we just wanted to be married,
waiting a year seemed too long) and set the date for January 16th, 2011. I’ve travelled extensivley in Baja for the
last 15 years and knew the perfect place just outside Todos Santos. Unspoiled (for now) a perfect quiet beach away
from vendors and booming systems and booze cruises of Cabo.
My fiance surfs, and Pescadero was the perfect place.
We invited out of courtesy, not thinking so many would show up. But all in all we only had 20 guests so it was a
I planned everything myself, best I could from 2,000 miles away. With the help of a friend down in Todos Santos who
arranged the dinner. (A mexican family comes into the home and cooks dinner for us).
Anyway, here’s some photos of the favors, our engagement photos on the bikes, our legal ceremony (getting married in
MX requires a blood test and judges chambers ICK), and finally our wedding ceremony and reception.
The morning of I dealt with the officiant and deets of the ceremony (are all officiants kinda nutty), my fiance got
up early and went surfing, I got ready about 3 and did my own hair and makeup, my mom steamed my dress (a rhett mori
lee altered with a sweetheart), I set up the favors table with just one program for schedule, a request not to take
photos during the ceremony, lil signage, a photo tree and instant mini fuji camera. Then 4:30 came and it was time
to walk out to our self built altar on the beach, said my vows:
Included things like “I promise to always choose bent bike over target, camping over cocktail parties, and riding
with you til we are too old to turn the key” My fiance forgot to take his sunglasses off, note to brides: Kinda
hard to get emotional if you cant see there face hehe.
Then we exchanged rings and we were husband and wife. Ran down the ‘aisle’ while our guests threw yellow flowers.
The whole thing was just perfect. Simple, loving and with just the people we really really cared for and cared for
If I regret one thing, its that I totally spaced getting a lil time away from the family so that my husband and I
could get pics just us along the beach. Oh well, what can I do. We didnt hire a photograher, had our friend with
the fancy cam do it. We did the whole wedding for under $3,000. Including the rehearsal dinner and guest welcome
drinks upon arrival.
Enough yappin, here’s the stuff!
sUMMARY OF THE DAY:
Surfing the morning of our wedding, beach ceremony, beer in cans, stuffed chiles by mamacita in our rented house,
poker, pool, bonfire, cigars, country dancing, and moto loves at the self built altar.
Wedding Dress: Mori Lee 4164 from a trunk show
Bridesmaids dress: Told her to show up wear a blue dress
Grooms suit: Tommy hilfiger from Macys, matching ties for the best man
Favors: Shop rags for the boys, kerchiefs for the girls “grease or tears” with a motorcycle helmet and hearts that I
screen printed myself (thats tuff!)
Invites: Designed myself and printed at overnightprints.com, assembled with velum and twine and a heart tag
Maps: Designed myself with directions and maps and dos and donts for the trip (like how to get pesos, where to get
groceries, detailed map to the location)
Theme: I saw a bug with hearts above it online somewhere, so I recreated with a vw bus and surfboard on top with two
hearts. So everything in the decor/maps etc all had two hearts above it. Which tied it all together.
