Hey bees! Fiance and I aren’t getting married until (June?) 2014, because I am not done with school until May, 2013, but I already know *exactly* the kind of wedding reception I want, and luckily Fiance agrees 🙂 The ceremony itself…we have some ideas (outside?), but nothing set in stone yet. The one thing I know I want is a kick-ass reception party at a hotel where our familys, wedding party, and any guests who choose to stay, can stay and party our hearts out! With an open bar of course! My friend had one of these a couple years ago and it was a blast. Sadly, the sweet old inn she had hers at was torn down last year for a supermarket.
When we got engaged in March, Fiance took me stay at the Seelbach Hilton hotel in our city, Louisville, KY. We checked in and then went over to the close-by waterfront park on the Ohio river. When we first started dating, I loved to walk around the park with him until we found a secluded bench on the bank and just talk about all the little things you learn when you first get to know someone. It was a little cold and a little drizzly, but we had a great time walking around and reminiscing, until Fiance stopped and got down on one knee and proposed! I had already picked out my ring, so it wasn’t a total surprise, and I just started laughing (from nerves and happiness) and completely caught him off guard. He thought I was laughing at him, until I started jumping up and down out of excitement! Its just one of those silly, lovely memories that I adore. He took me to a flower shop and let me pick out my own gorgeous bouquet of flowers and then took me to dinner at my favorite restaurant. The man knows me well. I am not huge on surprises and can be a bit of a control freak 🙂
Our night at the Seelbach was pricey but so beautiful and fun! I would love to have our wedding reception there, in a basement ballroom called the Rathskellar, but rooms are around $200 each, and I don’t want our guests, who (aside from most of my bridal party, will not be Out of Town guests) to have to pay for them. Here’s hoping that when the time comes, we will be able to negotiate a great group/wedding package price!!
Some pictures of the gorgeous old hotel that I have been in love with for so so long…

I am in love with this historic hotel and think that it would be so amazing to have our wedding reception in the same place where we got engaged! The Rathskellar is so much more magical in person. What do you think of my sweet spot that is totally going to cost of tons and tons of money? Is it worth it?
