@Buttercupmcgee:  At a wedding show. We went and talked with all types of vendors we hadn’t yet booked, looked at some of their work then picked the best ones in our price range. It was very helpful being able to speak with and see the work and prices of most vendors in the area all in one place.

We actually asked a friend of my Fiance and he said he didn’t do weddings, but gave us the name of our photographer. I had done the google thing and looked at web sites, too. I feel you can tell a lot about the photographer if they have a good web site. Before I knew the name of the photographer, I had actually found his site and made a note to contact him. The best part was he gave us a discount since it was through a friend! 🙂

I googled weddings at my venue and came across my photographer.  It was helpful to see how she worked with the space and how other people decorated it.

@Buttercupmcgee:  My photographer was the one recommended by the venue. Since my venue was a three-hour, round trip away from where I lived, I had very limited opportunities to meet with and interview vendors, so I met with him and signed the contract.

I got mine from The Bee! Mine are The Burks! They are based out of Charlotte,  NC but specialize in desitination locales. Very reasonably prices and way cheaper then anything in my area

I found mine on Craigslist! I looked on Weddingwire, The Knot, and in local wedding magazines but anything I could afford was awful and anything I liked was way out of budget. On a lark I looked on Craigslist and was surprised by all the really great photographers I found there. I am really excited about my photographers, they a husband and wife team and they are crazy talented and way under budget.

Add another to the craiglist crew… I found a photographer and videographer on there.

Another for Craigslist! Our photographer was fairly new to the wedding scene, but had amazing pictures on her website, and we got a great deal. She was beyond fabulous, we couldn’t have been happier with our photos – the same package we got is now $1600 more!

+1 craigslist- make sure you do your research though. Our photographers were wedding videographers for 20 years and wanted to start doing photography as well, we wound up getting the deal of a life time, and a few weeks after we signed our contract they got a ‘best of the knot’ award. I’m really excited to work with them.

Google search for local wedding photographers.

She seemed like someone I could get along with.

Our photographer had been photographing my husband and his family for a long time, so she was a family friend so to speak.
