Hi Bees, I am stressing about invites tonight. We have a very small budget and are really trying to keep our actual guest count to about 50. Our invite list is at 73 right now, and I’m worried about feeding everyone if they all show up. We’re only inviting close friends and family… but we have a lot of family. We thought about inviting aunts/uncles but not cousins, or adult children of cousins, that we’re not very close to, but ultimately we feel like it’d make waves in our families to not extend an invite, even if we doubt they’ll come. But what if they DO come?
Our wedding is in New York, but almost everyone will be traveling from out of state. The closest people would still be doing a 6-hour drive round trip to attend. So I’m hoping that will knock out a chunk of people for whom it’s expected to at least invite, but we already know they probably won’t make the trip. On the other hand.. since we are inviting only people ‘closest’ to us, what if they all feel obligated to make the trip?
So to those of you who had an out of state wedding, what percent of people actually came? Would you feel safe inviting ~75 and expecting that 25 will decline?
