- Wedding: October 2011
My fiance and I have a lot of out of towners coming in for our wedding (Michigan, Oct ’11). We want to leave something special in the room to thank those who made such an effort (time and money) to come to our special day.
-Fall theme wedding
-small time between wedding and receiption (2pm ceremony, 5pm cocktail hour)
-approx 40 couples flying in, 10-15 driving in, 55-60 gifts in total
-Check in 4pm
-We’re hosting a brunch the morning after the wedding for any traveling guests
-Gifts will be delivered to rooms (hotel policy)
I had thought we would have gifts for those individuals checking in on Friday (or earlier) as they will be there longer. Then I figured we’d have different gifts for individuals checking in the day of the wedding (4pm – likely between ceremony and reception).
Friday Check-Ins…here were my ideas (each gift will include a local map, summary of what is in the area, listing of restaurants, directions, contact info and other emergency information)
-2 cupcakes and a small bottle of champagne
-Orchard Theme wood basket (apples, water, apple cider, oatmeal cookies)
-Orchard Theme #2 wood basket (apples, water, cider, apple butter -mini jar, mini loaf of yummy bread)
-small fondue kit w/ small bottle of champagne
I am clearly torn between an orchard theme and not. I am leaning towards it because where we are getting married has several orchards in the area and it will be beautiful fall at the time of our wedding.
I am torn with what to do for the people coming just for Saturday. I dont want to put as much stuff because I think it will get wasted as they will really only be in their rooms from 4pm – check out and in there we are providing dinner and brunch. Snacks would appear to be the way to go…smalled basket with bottles of water and some sweet treat? Smaller basket, two bottles of water, 2 apples and a bag of candy corn?
What is everyone else doing? Any thoughts?
