We are having an outdoor buffet. It won’t be formal, but it’s not casual, either.
I am looking at different options for buying plates, and I posted previously about buying our own table settings. While I think we could afford to do so (and re-sell afterwards), that creates a lot of clean-up work that I had only marginally considered. Also, it’s kind of fancy. I like fancy; FI’s family thinks it’s a waste of money to an extent.
They had suggested getting the clear plates with the swirl trim. I get it — this is convenient and cheap and would be easy for us and for our guests. My main concern with buying plates is that with the buffet set up, you would be taking your one plate back if you wanted more. Disposable plates would prevent that and save clean up — just hose them off and send them to recycling. But, of course, they’re plastic plates. Not hideous and while some of you are probably thinking them tacky, they are pretty accepted where I am from. And for what it is worth, we would get the “nice” plastic sets, not your bulk white plates.
Then I thought about doing mixed media to streamline somethings, but that might just highlight the difference (or pointlessness) between them.
What do you think?
