- Wedding: October 2012
Super excited, cause we booked our venues!! I’ve always dreamed about an outdoor wedding, but wrote it off because I didn’t think I could handle the weather stress. We’re in Iowa, and you never know what it’ll be like. BUT, when it came down to it, there just wasn’t anything else that I could settle for!
So we’re getting married in mid October, outside an old mansion along the mississippi. I absolutely LOVE the location so much. But of course, I need a backup plan. And I do.not.know. what to do.
We could rent a tent, so that if it rains at least we’re covered. Maybe get a couple umbrellas for the wedding party to walk to the tent with. Could maybe even get a tent that has sides if we’re worried about the rain blowing a lot. I don’t recall too many bad rain/thunderstorms in early October, but hey, weather is generally very unpredictable. Another option would be using the inside of the mansion. This is what I’m leaning toward, because the mansion is so pretty. The problem is, that there is not a really large room where we could fit many chairs. We would use the very large downstairs hallway/foyer. More likely, we could fit a couple rows, and everyone else would only fit my standing. (I have no idea how many rows would fit in the room total, but it sure wouldn’t be enough for everyone. They’d have to crowd around the doorways to the hallway!) The house also has a very large covered porch, but logistically, I’m not sure how we could set it up.
What do you think? Do we reserve a tent (which I definitley wouldn’t want up if the weather ended up nice…so I’m unsure how and when we’d set up). Or do we just put up some tulle in the foyer and have our guests stand? (It’s like a 20-25 min ceremony). I tend to think our guests that would come would be understanding!!
