Hello! My fiancee and I booked our May 24, 2014 wedding last January at the Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls, NY. The only thing that turned me off about the venue was the outdoor ceremony site. It is outdated to say the least and very difficult for guests to see the wedding. When we booked the wedding planner guaranteed us that the outdoor ceremony location was going to be completely rennovated by the time we were ready to say “I do”. After visiting the venue for Mother’s Day we called because no work has been started. We were told today that no firm plans have been made to rennovate the location, and though a project is in the cards there is no promise that it will be even started by the time our wedding is here. Needless to say I am heartbroken. I would have never booked Villa Borghese had I not been promised this was all going to be taken care of. Does anyone know of an alternate location to exchange vows close to Villa Borghese, since we’ve already given a $3000.00 deposit we’re stuck having the reception there.

It’s funny you say that… I’m getting married there this summer. I had booked it before I knew of the outdoor renovations, but later the ceremony decorator made it seem like they were going to be doing the area even before my wedding. That obviously doesn’t seem to be the case. I don’t mind most of it, but the trees along the aisle bother me… such an obstruction! On the other hand, I’m glad the bathrooms were redone!
Sorry I couldn’t really offer any alternatives! I have never been to a wedding at the Villa myself, but I have heard several great reviews from friends and family. I hope it all works out for you!

WHOA! whoa Whoa!! “The wedding planner guaranteed us that the outdoor ceremony location was going to be completely renovated by the time we were ready to say “I do”.
Um I’m sorry to be the one to say you should play hardball but if the site planner promised this they SHOULD make this happen, if they now CAN’T guarantee it you need to get tough with them, you’ve paid the deposit but that doesn’t mean you can’t go to small claims to get it back.
also check your contract one of ours says we can get the refund back if we cancel 6+ months in advance.
If the planner is one you hired yourself, and they promised it then you need to tell them to keep their promise, or get your money back!
If you’re promised something ESPECIALLY on this day of your life and this far in advance you should not have to settle for something you hate!
this wedding world is SUPER small especially in upstate ny, and the Borghese does a lot of weddings, they should know that word will travel if they don’t give the money back.
There are TONS of gorgeous locations in that area, don’t be afraid to keep looking!

They actually made it reeeeally nice now! I see progress like every weekend because my in laws live in the neighborhood directly behind it (lucky them, it’s noisy until 12am lol) but it looks like they did so much to it, and I think maybe new management?
They finally got better chairs, but the archway is a little tacky. I would take pictures at bodwin park or something?
