I was just tossing ideas around in my head today, is it obscene to ask someone to sit out for 10-15 minutes in the cold as you get married?
I’m just wondering what your thought would be, constructive or destructive both welcome! 🙂

You have to think about the whole time people will be outside – as they arrive, as they wait, when they’re sitting through the ceremony and as they line up to go inside. A 15 minute ceremony can easily turn into 45 minutes to an hour sitting outside. I would be pretty irritated personally.

@Miss T-Rex: The only way I think it would be doable is if there was an indoor spot for guests to gather, they all went outside at the same time, the ceremony began immediately, was just a quick set of vows and hot drinks inside immediately.

Lol, I think this Question is more about WHERE and WHEN …
rather than IF it is obscene
Kentucky is ALWAYS going to be warmer than my part of the world… pretty much no matter what month
So COLD (how cold) is a variable that is very relative in this conversation…
There are certainly Brides who have very quick outdoor ceremonies even here in our Canadian Winters… but they do tend to be not that heavily attended, or the “outdoor part” is just witnessed by the Bridal Party / Immediate Family
A Winter Wedding can certainly be stunning visually… (do a GOOGLE or a SEARCH her on WBee to see pics)… But there can be a price to… as weather, particularly winter weather can be so highly unpredictable there are no guarantees on what you’ll get day of even in Kentucky (and that part can suck if it is freezing rain for example… or a massive snowstorm / blizzard)
Hope this helps,

I would hate to wait an hour in the cold, people do wait that long for the ceremony to begin. I think it could be okay if there were heaters and hot drinks to keep them warm for the waiting. I would also include something with the invitation that it is an outdoor wedding and to wear a warm coat. But I would still dislike sitting in the cold. Good luck and good wishes!
