Hi everyone!
I am planning for an intimate wedding of 60 guests for 2015. I personally would like for it to be in October but I will be flexible about the date as long as it is not too hot (significant other have the lowest heat resistence imaginable).
I fell in love with venues that have gorgeous outdoor ceremony sites, such as Codman and Habitat at Belmont. However, I don’t want to put all my hopes up for a Sunny autumn day in New England. My anxiety level will probably skyrocket the days before the wedding in hopes for a dry ceremony.
I just want to know if any bees had planned an outdoor ceremony and then encountered rain. Or have any advice regarding what to do for venues such as Codman and Habitat. In the case of Habitat… I cannot imagine holding the ceremony indoor because there simply is no space.
Feel free to share your thoughts, or even recommend months when it is less likely to rain.

I got married in October and was going to have an outdoor ceremony, but the weather had different plans. The ceremony area had to be changed and moved into some of the space where the reception was held. (Basically onto the dance floor.) The caterers quickly moved the chairs from the ceremony to the reception tables. We had a small wedding, so I believe it was done quickly.
I would inquire with any venues are you interested in as to what their back-up plan is, as they should already know of options.

I went to a wedding this October just outside of Boston. The weather was nice and sunny but it was still freezing. Not freezing for October but for all the girls in cocktail dresses even with the tent and heat laps we were cold! Just something to think about.

It is so hard to plan for the weather! My wedding was outside in June. It poured the Wednesday and Thursday prior to the wedding. So much so that there was flooding everywhere. My ceremony site was right next to a river and on Thursday night before the wedding it was completely under water. We got very lucky and everything was pretty much dry by our rehearsal on Friday and the weather was perfect for my wedding day.
I was at weddings in 2011 on two weekends in Oct. (the 1st and 8th). The wedding on the 1st had to be moved inside because of rain but the weather on the 8th was beautiful.
I would just make sure that you are able to move the ceremony inside in case the weather isnt good for an outside wedding.
Good Luck!

@matildatwar: You really can’t control the weather in New England! I had attended a friend’s wedding at Bradley Estate which is very similar to Codman. At the last minute the ceremony rained out and everything was moved inside to one of the rooms and the ceremony was held there. The reception was tented. You should continue looking for venues that can at least fit all your guests inside if there is rain. Also, depending on when in October, it could be a little cold outside, so think about what’s best for your guests.
