I am having an outdoor wedding (finger crossed for good weather). Our DJ is going to do the ceremony.  He has cordless mics he puts on the officient and the groom and sets up a second small sound system outside (were having the ceremony and reception at the same place).  I thought this was a great option, he did add on an additional small charge for the second set up location, but defiently better than getting 2 seperate people to do music!  Good luck an best wishes!

I’m having an outdoor wedding and I’m hiring a DJ so I don’t have to stress about the music.

We’ll have a auitarist for the ceremony and cocktail hour. We’re renting a small PA system/mic for the officiant and hopefully that will catch some of our voices without a mega sound system which we didn’t want!

we had the DJ just turn the speakers around from the tent and play toward the ceremony site.  it worked out really well.  Maybe ask your venue what they usually do?

We couldn’t have amplified sound (ie. no DJ) so we went with a string quartet. I absolutely LOVED it! It’s not something I originally planned to have but it was so romantic. The sound carried really well in the area. We lucked out though and hired a college group so it was cheap and luckily they were really good!!!

We have a DJ and between her and the officiant they will sync up a couple of wireless mics for the ceremony. Probably just regular ones for the speeches. Depending on how many people you want I’d definitely say try to have a mic of some sort. A friend who’s wedding i was in recently had a friend MC her wedding who usually spins for clubs and bars. he did fine with the music but there was no mic making it impossible to hear any announcements or speeches.

We hired a guitarist for the ceremony music. He is also providing a mic for the officiant. He is charging us $300, and will learn all the songs we request. He will also play 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony as guests arrive.

Ask your venue! They will probably know what works and what doesn’t. We’re having a string trio.
