I find myself with a dark 1 hour hole in my wedding planninG! Oh no!
We’re having a simple non religious ceremony at a licensed venue, where we’ll hold our wedding breakfast ( its really a sit down 3 course lunch but thats what we Brits call it- something to do with the past when the bride fasted till this meal)straight after a cocktail hour.
To give you more if an idea, the ceremony is scheduled for 12 noon till half past, then photos and cocktails till 2pm. And wedding breakfast 2 till 5pm.
BUT we then have an evening reception at the same venue. It is scheduled for 6pm so that the banquet room can be transformed into a party room, dancefoor and all.
My trouble is what to do with the guests in that hour? At first i was just seeing it as a chance for me to get my makeup touched up, change shoes, freshen up etc and was thinking guests could hang around the beautiful al fresco terrace overlooking the lake and mingle, or take a walk around the beautiful gardens if it doesnt rain ( very unlikely, this is England afterall! Lol) but now i think thats rubbish and the al fresco terrace is not an option as thats where the cocktail hour will be! Boring to go back there right? I dont know.
Anyway i thought about having a simple outdoor game that everyone could play if they wanted. I thought that could entertain for an hour and the al fresco could be open to those uninterested. But just in case it rains and the games cant be done anyway, i do not want to spend a fortune on it.
Here then comes the question. What can we do? Badminton? Croqet? Help! I’m clueless 🙁
