That is so freakin cool! Tons of cool points for killing two birds with one really awesome stone.

I think that’s really cute!  We always like having spare lawnchairs around for camping and tailgating.  Even if a few guests don’t want to take them home, I’m sure other people will snatch up extras.

As long as its not a destination wedding you should be good with not having a ton of them left over. People wont want to fly with a big folding chair which would be the only issue.

Awesome!  I really like that idea.  And a USEFUL wedding favor at that!

However, I think I’d prefer a chair that wasn’t stenciled.  Maybe there is some way you could make a detachable sign/note.  Or, maybe stencil it with something that will relatively easily wash/wear off.

@2ndtime:  I agree with this. Maybe a nice tag on it or a stencil of a mountain or something more generic which people can use again and again.

What type of paint are you using with your stencil and is it designed to show on black fabric?

Make sure you let people know to take the chairs! I would never think to take my chair home, so to avoid them being left behind leave notes on them or something to let people know!

This is actually a case where I think customization makes the favor more entertaining. If you stencil a bag, well, unless there’s some reason that I needed to tell the world that I attended the Jane & John Doe wedding of 2008, then I’m not going to carry it again. But you have these stenciled on the seat of the chair, so most people won’t care at all. They’ll get a kick out of it every time they open it, but that’s it. It’s not in your face, it’s funny.

Seriously, good job with a great find and having a great time designing a theme around it.

@WENSTEVE:  I personally would not use anything with someone elses name and date again in public. I think the stencil is a very good idea however to make it special but I would use an iconic image myself. the other question about what kind of paint you are using is actually to help make this project work for you. I ahve experience with a lot of textiles and have done silkscreening and black can be very difficult to paint over. Btw I do love the part “I survived”.

Since you’ve stenciled on the inside of the chair I would have no problem using it again after the wedding. When you sit down it will be covered anyway. Like a PP said, I think people will get a kick out of it when they open them. I know we never seem to have enough lawn chairs when we go camping or to a fireworks display so this is an awesome idea!

@FloretteLiz:  this is exactly what I was thinking, sitting in it covers it.

OP-I think it’s super cute and really well done. Great job!
