Excellent topic.  My wedding is the day after yours.  I am just hoping and praying for a magically cool autumn-like day.

I got married at the end of August too, and it was a terribly hot day. It was a dry heat though, and windy, so I didn’t completely melt. If it’s super humid, that’s tougher, though!

Things that helped me stay fresh and un-shiny looking:

  • used a primer and Make Up Forever HD foundation, and a dusting of silica powder spheres to set it.

  • Also a good primer on eyelids and around the eye area will help your eye makeup stay in place – either the same as your face primer, or I like Urban Decay’s eye primer as well.

  • Notes on the primer – I used Monistat Soothing Care Chafing gel. It was only about $6 at Target and works like a charm. The powder I got from here. I think I found these products through a WB post when I was wedding planning.

I also got one of those battery-operated fans, tried to have enough cold water to drink without having to make a bathroom break every 20 minutes, stayed in the shade as much as possible. If there isn’t a lot of shade, I would totally get a cute parasol to use when you’re just standing around outside during photos, etc.

My wedding is the same day, and I have the same worries! I’m going to make sure my salon where I get my make up done uses a good primer, and something to hold the makeup. As for sweating, there’s not much I can think to do to control that. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this thread.

I second all the PP’s on primer and staying out of the sun as much as possible maybe using the parasol. I would also have someone hold blotting papers for you in addition to the little fan/water for in between camera shots.

As far as making your makeup stay, during dance recitals (many moon ago) we sprayed our faces with (LIGHT HOLD) hairspray to keep everything in place. The mega hold stuff sticks a little too much.

Good luck

I’m opting for airbrush makeup. I did my trial early in the day and it still looked good good and relatively matte the rest of the day.

I have to say, the hairspray works even though it sounds crazy! It doesn’t make me break out, and my skin is super sensitive. But on my wedding day I’ll probably try the primer too and a little fan.

It was 90+ on my wedding day. Here is what I did

– airbrush makeup. It stayed perfect – even in the heat and with a few tears

– certain dri: Apply this at night before you go to bed. In the morning apply your regular anti persperant. It kept my underarms sweat free!

We honeymooned in Jamaica and upon arrival they gave us cool washcloths that they kept moistened and in the fridge. These felt amazing and we ended up keeping some in our room all the time. If you have a little cooler this would be a great idea. You can pat down your chest, arms, legs etc.. when feeling a little sticky.

I am getting married a couple weekends before you and fear the same thing!  I am having my makeup airbrushed because I’ve herad amazing things about it.  I ordered Certain Dri deoderant, and I’m setting my face makeup with Mally’s Pore-Defender setting solution.  It can be purchased on QVC.com.  I have it and it works wonders on a normal, so I’m hoping it holds up in that intense heat.  The mini-fan is a great idea, lots of water, and I got sandlewood fans for all the guests so I’ll have one on hand for myself as well.  As for the dreaded boob sweat…. not sure there’s much you can do there besides blot. 🙂

@ArmyWifey8.23:  Yay! MN August brides! Are you getting married outdoors? I am! I’m just hoping this heat wave will be it for the summer and come August it won’t be too crazy hot!

I’ve read that it’s really important to drink lots of water like the week leading up to the wedding, not just the day of, so you’re good and hydrated. I’m real worried about under the dress. I don’t want my thighs rubbing together and chaffing…but I know I will die of heat if I’m wearing spanks…Uggh! Why am I getting married outside in August?! Silly silly!
