So I am newly engaged and have to start planning ASAP because the wedding will be taking place within a year or so. First order of business of course was the guest list. I’m estimating probably around 200. My next order of business, which is why I am posting this, is I need to find a venue/location! See we and all of our friends live in Springfield, IL., but we absolutely do not want to get married here! Most of our family lives in the Alton, IL. and Fulton, MO. areas. So we want to find a happy medium between those two places. However, we both want an Outdoor twilight (Not like the movie…I’m talking around sunset time) ceremony that’s Reasonably priced. We only have a $20,000 MAX budget for Everything. I’m having trouble finding a nice suitable location because I’d like to have the reception at the same place as the ceremony. Any ideas?? Please! Could really use the help

@Joy024: This may be a little late but Allerton Park in Monticello is beautiful. It is closer to U of I than Springfield but it may be worth looking into. Best of luck!

Again, way late… but have you considered a winery? Central/Western IL has no shortage of small wineries that usually provide a fantastic outdoor ceremony/indoor reception option. They are usually smaller, though. I was married in September at a winery near Shelbyville, IL (a good two hours or so NE of you) and it was MAX 150. But it’s totally what you’re talking about– gorgeous sunset location. Usually a winery doesn’t have food, so you can pick your own caterer to bring in, as opposed to a banquet hall or hotel where you’re limited to their (overpriced) catering. I had BBQ at my winery! 🙂 Good LUCK!

I lived in Carbondale for a few years while I was at Southern Illinois University and one of my favorite places was Blue Sky Vineyards.
They have a really nice area for weddings. Good Luck!
