kelmpm7809:  You can hang a mosquito net around the cake table. A bigger concern is often the temperature. The cake may have to be kept inside in a cool place then brought out later.

kelmpm7809:  I’m a wedding photographer and I shoot almost all outside weddings – it’s just the nature of the area I work in. Almost every single wedding does not put the cake out until the start of the reception – and even then it’s cut pretty early on. Otherwise, they’ll wait and bring it out shortly before it’s time to cut it. I personally would say bugs are less of a concern and more of the cake melting.

when i was talking to bakers, there was one that said if we used any of the buttercream, it could only be out in ac 30 minutes before cutting…that was not what I wanted…the baker we used had some that could only be out a short time (cream cheese and such), but their others could be out for several hours.  Find out what the baker recommends.
