I’m having an outdoor wedding this summer, but truth be told, I have a huge fear of bees! I’m familiar whith the wedding ceremony and reception areas and while there is no known hive around, there’s always a few bees around both areas. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts or tips to combatting these pesky buggers or encouraging them to go somewehre else for the day (hehe). Thanks for your advice in advance!

I would try to avoid wearing flowery perfume. That always seems to attract them. You could have bug zappers but those are loud and would probably be distracting.

hmm, could you put potted flowers on a different area of the property to try to lure them over there? And I second the suggestion about flowery perfume. Good luck, I hope they don’t ruin it!

Bees don’t typically get zapped by bug zappers…
You could make some bee traps of you’re really worried about it. But as long as there are flowers, there will be bees. Your bouquets and your bouts will attract bees, as will any other flowers you decorate with. The fewer flowers, the fewer bees. Although at my venue there was a big beautiful garden that the bees were busy in, so they never noticed my bouquet or anything!

haha for a second i was thinking you were afraid of “us” bees haha.
uhh – i’ve heard two things:
1. put a piece of meet far away, and the bees will be so preoccupied with that they won’t come near you.
2. dryer sheets? i know they work for like, flies and mosquitoes, but i hear they work for bees as well.

Actually these ideas really help gals! I heard from someone that yellow jackets especially love meat (who knows why!), but I just shrugged it off. Now that I’m hearing this advice from more than one source it makes me think twice!
