I am getting married outdoors in July and originally thinking about having chocolate favors, until I realized what disaster that could turn in to. (“Disaster” may be over-exaggerating, but melted chocolate favors wouldn’t be good.) The wedding is kind of a bird theme. Colors are navy and bright pink and some brown will be involved. Does anyone have any ideas for favors? I was thinking possibly of canning jam… but I’m not super excited about that idea… Any thoughts??

We’re in a similar predicament–outdoors, late July, the threat of melting. We’re going for miniature whoopie pies because the filling is fairly stable (made out of marshmallow creme and shortening, so not too melting-prone). What about sturdy cookies, like amaretti or chocolate icebox cookies? Or you could do little seed packets for people to take home and plant.

I agree with cookies. They hold up well. And I am all about the edible favor.

I like jars of honey. I think that is something that people would use for sure.

We’re having caramel popcorn favors, I think, and maybe cookies that could hold up in the heat.

honey, cookies, fans just incase it’s hot. A soda for guests to enjoy during the ceremony. Sounds weird but a friend had read and teal as her colors and served Jones Soda in red and teal with striped straws. It looks really cool.

Jars of jam or honey sounds like a great idea for an outdoor wedding.

If you aren’t big on a favor idea yet, you could make a donation in everyone’s name to some kind of charity. My friend did it and just placed a card at each of the tables. It’s nice way to do favors without having to worry about melting or people taking home worthless crap 🙂

I can’t pass up an opportunity to post these :). Here are my honey jars — the guests loved them, and they looked beautiful on the table. I even used the sticks as the place cards. If you go this route, make sure the jars are small enough to take on the plane.

We’re having lip balm (from local beeswax). In sunny, dry Colorado it’s an absolute necessity so I know everyone will use it.

Wow… LoveSmartDesign- those are adorable! You did a great job with those! Verrry pretty! 🙂
I think we are heading towards a more natural look and lovebird theme… we are most likely going to purchase some mini nests and fill them with candy eggs… Luckily it’s easter time so we can get those yummy mini Cadbury eggs! (The kind with the shell… not the cream filled!) I think the shell will help keep it from melting all over the place. I know, I know…. completely different than what I mentioned above… I am quite indecisive at this point! Garr! (that’s my frustration with myself being indecisive) 🙂
Thank you all for your great ideas though ladies! You are all so creative… I seriously appreciate the second opinions!
