So I’m getting married on a lake outdoors. Fiance and I don’t know what to do as a plan B if it rains. We want to reserve a tent but in order to do it, we have to put a deposit down and will lose the deposit if we cancel the tent because the weather will be good. We are renting a cottage so we won’t be able to fit 40 people inside if the weather is bad. I am at a loss as to what to do. Any ideas on other options besides reserving a tent we don’t want to use? Or should we reserve it and use it even if the weather is ideal? I’ve got about 2 months before the wedding and I’m stressing out. Please help.

mylende2015: Which would you rather do- lose the deposit if the weather is nice? or not have shelter for your guests if it is raining?
Will it be hot at the time of your wedding where you live? You might want to use the tent to provide some shade.

julies1949: Thank you. You’re right, having a tent and not needing it is better than needing it and not having it. We were just hoping to keep expenses down but it can’t be helped with an outdoor wedding. Any ideas on other options? Or do you think reserving a tent is our best bet? I was thinking shade sails since there are trees but Fiance doesn’t think they are water proof.

mylende2015: We are doing an outdoor wedding by the ocean and are doign a tent rain of shine. DO you really want to make your guests be outside in the sun all day? Even if I could be 100% sure of perfect weather a tent for an outdoor wedding would still be a must. Don’t make your guests remember your wedding as the day they got a horrible sunburn or heat stroke.

I think it would be nice to have a tent to matter what… unless it’s not very likely that the weather will be unbearable.
