Can you share your experience with an outdoor wedding reception in August in Los Angeles? We are hoping to have our outdoor reception from 3 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the San Gabriel area. Any advise, tips, suggestions, etc. are most welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

I don’t think it’s a too great idea. August is the hottest month, and 3pm, is well, very hot! Could you move your whole wedding back a few hours so the sun would possibly be starting to set?

No way it’s super hot!! In the valley it will be around 100-115 in August!

Beware of the heat. Make sure you have plenty of shade and options for your guests to stay school (handheld fans, big fans, cooling stations). I personally wouldn’t do it as I get cranky in the heat and sweat a lot. That’s pretty awful when you’re wearing a wedding gown and in full makeup.
I did all indoor for a September wedding. The high was 107 that day, might’ve been the hottest day of the year. We rushed our formal photos outdoors to keep everyone comfortable, but it sucked.

@GMelanie: Can’t recommend for the valley but we did ours at the Cabrillo Marina in San Pedro and it was beautiful. They have a lawn area you can rent as well as a hall area for an indoor room that you can also book and it’s not expensive. It’s right on the water and has free parking along with easy hotel accomodations at the Double Tree. http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-plaza-at-cabrillo-marina-san-pedro
