- Wedding: October 2017
My wedding will hopefully be outside (don’t worry, I have rainy day plans) but the aisle and where I will be standing is entirely packed dirt. I see a bunch of post about grass aisles but not straight dirt. I know the dress will get a little dirty during pictures but at least I’ll have a chance to carry the train or bustle it rather than simply dragging it. I don’t want a dress without a train and the dress I’m having custom made will be white (not ivory which I think can hide a bit more) with a chantilly lace scalloped edge around train. Who would want to drag that through straight dirt for 20 feet? I know it doesn’t seem totally practical but the two things that were important to me that I would work around to make happen include the photographer and dress. Since it is packed dirt, I won’t have to worry about heels poking through although the party and I have already decided on flats, wedges, or a low chunky heel. I don’t want something all loosey goosey either for people to trip over. I’m even thinking about putting an area rug at the end where the groom and I will be standing.
What did my fellow Bees do in this situation? Tack down a cloth aisle runner? Use an outdoor carpet type runner? Any pics would be appreciated 🙂
