My husband and I are going to the Outer Banks, NC to celebrate our 1st anniversary in a few weeks. We are renting a condo and bringing our dog.
While it won’t be warm enough to swim, any suggestions for activities? Bonus points for dog friendly things to do!

When are you going? We went in early May 2 years ago for vacation and rented a beach house. It was a great time, only down side is that it’s the off season right now so alot of places are closed. The water was warm enough to go it though when we were there…maybe you will get lucky?
My FI brother and his wife brought their jeep and you are allowed to drive on certain beaches so we did that alot. There’s also wild horses on the beaches that you can go look for. We booked a fishing charter and went deep sea fishing too..
There was alot to do to keep you entertained, you won’t be disapointed at all, we loved it!

MrsEmployed: thanks! We will be there 1st weekend of May. Our dog has never been to the beach, so we are really looking forward to that experience :). We also plan to keep him with us as much as possible. I’m mostly interested in dining establishments with outdoor seating…and any other pooch friendly ideas. Maybe we will get lucky with warmer weather!

We did not see very many dining places open that had outdoor seating…most were closed because it is the off-season right now. We had my soon to in MIL and FIL’s two boxers with us, and other than the beach, they had to stay at the house we rented because the resturaunts and most other places are NOT dog friendly. We were told there was alot of dog friendly places but again…they were all closed for the off-season =/
When you are down there try Mako Mike’s for dining some night…amazing food! Also, don’t be discouraged by me saying alot is closed right now, there is, but there is still plenty open to have fun. Plus side? Everything is cheaper in the off-season and there is hardly anyone there so it’s not elbow to elbow crowded!
