So the hubs and I have decided to trade my diamond in for a moissanite. Since we completely redid my entire wedding set he said I could up the center stone to a bigger one but I do not want to break the bank. Since we have 3 kiddos to take care, I told him about the moissanite and he is completely fine with it. We checked out a few stones in a couple different stores. I am in love. My setting that Kay Jewelers is remaking is a thick white gold cathedral setting with two semi eternity bands on either side. The moissanites we looked at are;
2.2 ct Oval unenhanced
1.5 ct unhanced round
1.8 ct Forever Brilliant round.
I had a round diamond before and I like the look of the rounds but there was something about the oval that really caught my eye.
The picture is my old set:(:( The center stone is .87.
What do you ladies think?

Why didn’t you keep your old set? It’s gorgeous!!

@canarydiamond: OP posted before that it kept losing stones.
If the oval caught your eye, go for it! Just know that the unenhanced sometimes have a yellow/green tint from what I’ve heard and it’s more noticeable the bigger the stone gets and when the stone isn’t round.

Okay, if you’re going with a round, I think it’s worth it to do the Forever Brilliant, especially at such a large size. My 1.25 ct moissanite is Forever Brilliant enhanced and absolutely gorgeous in the sunlight (and the house, too, but pictures really don’t do it justice). I am not sure if it would have shown color unenhanced — I think it really just depends on the stone. Some bees have had very white unenhanced stones.
Ovals, especially unenhanced, will show more color than a round unenhanced, for example. If you love the oval, go for it.
