I think whats more important is the ratio of L/W and minimal bowtie. I went to a few jewlers and they didn’t have but 1 or 2 ideal cut oval diamonds. I also requested to not be shown oddly shaped ovals though.

I think that they are beautiful though. I really want one as well! I won’t post the one I tried on because I doubt its 2.5 carats, but I want to see other ovals!

@Oklahomagirl:  A bow tie is a dark area across the center width of many fancy shapes—a result of varying pavilion angles.

I tried on this oval ring, but I have no idea the carat weight. That sounds good to me! Blue nile has great stones and a great return policy. So I would go for it!

@Oklahomagirl:  hello there! Ok so this one is nowhere near 2.5 cts, but it’s an oval. It’s 1.2 I, VS2 that I tried on a few months ago. I’m also looking for an oval. I’ve been doing lots of research on pricescope. The guys and girls there are real experts and will be able to point you in the right direction as far as specs and what you should be looking for in an oval. Good luck!

ETA: OMG sorry this is so huge! I tried to resize!

I have no idea what the equivalent carat would be maybe 1? But this is 5mm X 7mm on a size 6.

@Oklahomagirl:  Ovals don’t have the same grading in cut as RBs do. If you order the H color one, just be careful of color. Stones with a larger face and size show warmth really easily. As a PP mentioned, bowtie is a HUGE consideration. If it has a very apparent one, it will make your diamond look dull and lifeless. I have a 2 ct. oval and we went for a very high color grade and clarity over size.

Here’s mine!  She’s a 1.5 center stone with .5 on the band… so 2 carats total ๐Ÿ™‚  She’s an E color, the best cut possibly, and I don’t know the clarity… The pictures aren’t THAT great, but she doesn’t have a bow tie effect.  Anything you see is from the prongs being set the way they are, according to my fiance and the jeweler.
