Get what you want. I do think an oval surrounded by diamonds, AKA Halo, is a pretty decade specific design and will always say, “I got engaged in the 2010s.” Your choice tho.

I think you should go for it! If you’ve loved ovals for so many years then you might regret NOT getting one just because it’s “trendy”. I’m somewhat similar to you, I try to avoid trends and stick to classics, but I knew I would feel sad one day looking at my e-ring and seeing a round diamond when my heart was set on an oval. My ering is oval and rose gold, and I’m soooo in love with it and happy I followed my heart. FWIW I’ve never seen another oval e-ring in person so I still feel like they’re not as common as we think.

idk why on earth it should matter if what you like is  also what others like . I really don’t .

And as for “a pretty decade specific design and will always say, “I got engaged in the 2010s.”

I can’t imagine anything   mattering less. They can look at your face and say , ‘pretty sure she was born  in the mid 1980’s too.

i love oval erings. i think that they are just as classy as the typical round ones but they are more unique because of the shape.

here’s my oval w/o the bands and i love, love it <3

hope that helps 🙂

I agree with a lot of the ladies commenting, it’s the setting that makes it trendy, not the cut. I originally wanted an oval halo, but my fiance does NOT like halos. To him, halos are just a trend and they take away from the center stone (but, he’s also a purist that wanted a simple solitaire with the highest quality 4C’s, and not everyone is of the same opinion).

I’m so happy we ultimately went with an oval solitaire and pave band. I get SO many compliments from strangers on how unique it is! I only know one other person in real life with an oval – it’s an oval halo and absolutely beautiful. Either way, an oval cut is stunning and timeless. Whatever you choose will be amazing no matter what! 🙂

I have an oval solitare and although  they’re “trendy” here and on Pinterest, I’ve never seen anyone in real life with one!
