I am a waiting bee and this is my first post. In about 2 weeks my boyfriend and I will be celebrating our 6 year anniversary. We have lived together for a year now and we are starting to talk more about getting engaged, but it seems that he wants to wait longer than I do (does that surprise you?) Anyway, I’ve gone to a few ring stores to get an idea of what shape I want. I was debating between a round and ovals, and I have fell in love with oval rings! I tried on 2 rings, one by JB Star and a Tacori 2620 which can have an oval stone put in.
Here are the rings I tried on below. I’d like to have a diamond center stone instead of this sapphire, although it is GORGEOUS. Just seems like it’s too similar to Kate Middleton’s ring. Thoughts? And PLEASE feel free to show pictures of your ovals with specs! I’m hoping to get a 1.0-1.3 center stone.

I have an oval, I think it works well on my stubby fingers. My center stone is a 5mm X 7mm green sapphire, ring size 6.

@Eckle: That’s really pretty! This is my first time posting, I can’t believe I got a response so fast!

@Vivasevilla804: I love ovals! Look at Blue Nile to kind of get an idea of how many choices there are for settings and size and about how big each size would look on a finger.

Although I have a round stone myself I do think that ovals are beautiful. Something I found personally was that a round stone was more flattering to the length/shape of my fingers. Not to say that these rings don’t look great on your hand – because they do! It’s just something to consider when trying on different rings, not just how beautiful the ring/stone looks in the box, but if it is flattering on your hand.

My 1 carat alexandrite in custom setting. Centre of the band comes out and the wedding band will be inserted…it is yellow gold with Celtic knots all the way around.

@mypinkshoes: Beautiful rings!

Here’s my oval e-ring. I haven’t seen a lot of other ladies with ovals (only one IRL) but it looks like it’s gaining popularity here on the bee….

While I have seen more and more ovals on the bee since I joined I have yet to see one in real life besides mine.
