I too am partial to the oval, because it’s what I have and the sparkles are out of this world – although since joining the bee I have really learned to appreciate a nice emerald! This was a hard poll to answer! BUT no matter what ring you choose, congratulations! It’s a super exciting time!

I like both but if you go with emerald it looks best when it’s a higher quality stone because of the step cuts.

Oval! I also love and considered emerald but I just love the sparkle of an oval

redearthlady :  thank you for the compliment. 🙂 I love the knife edge – it feels dainty and feminine, and I think it adds intrest to the halo.

I am an emerald girl, so I voted emerald – but these are my two favorite cuts! Out of the two settings, I prefer the oval setting though.

    Exciting! Congrats bee!

dannij8918 :  I love both alot, so my advise will just be things to consider, you will get a bigger stone with an oval because the are not as deep and the clarity doest not have to be as high. Emerlads are more unique imo and seen less also imo you can compromise more on color because it doesn’t show as strongly with step cut shapes. And lastly tell him not to go through a jewlery store for the diamond, you’ll get 2x the budget and can get a much better cut, caret clarity color if he goes through james allen, blue nile or whiteflash instead.

I’d go into a store and try on oval and emerald cut rings just to see how they look on your hand. I’m partial to emerald cuts in general (as I have one), but even if you lean more towards one cut than another, you may feel differently once you see it on your hand. Also, if you are going with a halo, my preference would be to go oval.

hannahthenurse :  Hi there! 🙂 Because I’m on the hunt for the perfect oval I would love to know the dimension in mm (not ct) of your oval diamond + your ring size. Thanks so much!
