I am partial to oval diamonds so I voted for the oval.  As far as the bowtie, it’s hard to tell just from that still photo.  I can definitely see it, but you are going to see a little bit of one in any oval diamond, unless the diamond wasn’t cut deep enough.  In some light and at some angles you can see a bit of one in mine too, but my diamond isn’t nearly as big as the ones you are looking at.

I much prefer an oval over a radiant. 2.5 on a 7 will be LARGE, but sounds amazing. I’m also a 7 and I would die for that haha. Keep in mind unless you have it set very high you wont have a flush wedding band (I prefer low settings, but there would be a definite gap).

Bow ties aren’t inherently bad, but you need to see it moving. It looks like there is a video – how does it look moving around? Your ring isn’t going to be static, it will almost always be moving. If the bowtie bothers you as its moving around, you’ll never like it. From that particular angle, no it doesn’t look too bad.

I definitely would choose oval over radiant, but that’s a personal preference. I also think that ovals tend to look a little larger than they are, so if you’re already worried about 2.5 being too big you could probably afford to size down a little – i.e. 2 carat instead

I prefer oval, but I’m biased. The bowtie doesn’t look too bad from that photo. I also recommend asking if you can see a video.

My wedding band sits flush and my oval isn’t that high set (cathedral setting with halo). Pics attached. A super low setting will mean the base of the oval is going to take up space where your wedding band would normally sit flush against the band.

I prefer the oval as well over the radiant and I’m also a 7 and think 2.5 is not too large. I have a 2ct ova mossy that is not set high and my band fits flush so idk why people think that….it depends on the setting not the diamond size. I’m attaching pics for you to see. Good luck and I can’t wait to see your ring when you pick it!

It’s just the way an oval is set. Because its so long, it would have to be raised quite a bit in the setting to allow a band to fit underneath.

Blake livelys ring. I mean, its 12 cts so *slightly* larger, but you see how the band sits quite far back.

This one is kind of a bad example, but you can see how high up the setting is, allowing for the flush band.

Another example – the one on the left is very low set, but would not allow for a flush band. The one on the right is raised waaaay up, and would likely allow for the flush band.

Depending on the setting you might also be able to get away with a smaller gap, like this one. It’s really all down to personal preference.

Fair enough but its flush enough to when I look down at it you can’t see that TEENY TINY MICROSCOPIC gap, it’s only from the side but thanks for commenting! jellybellynelly :

I have a 6.5 finger (6.25 on good days) and I was considering a 2. I got a 1.5 and everyone talks about how big it is. I did NOT like the look of a 3. (I’m talking about round stones, not sure how it would translate for ovals)

I personally would not do a 2.5, but you gotta do what makes YOU happy!
