Okay, if any of you responded to my old post I have now done a complete 180 and decided against the pear. Nothing against it I still think it’s gorgeous but not sure I could wear it everyday. So.. I still want something different and I’m thinking about oval diamonds. But.. I still love round brilliants. So.. Here are the options : 2.5 carat round brilliant solitare or a 2.5 carat oval with trillion side stones.

OOOOVVVAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL. I think oval’s are so beautiful and unique. You would have something that not every other girl has (although the same can really be said of the 2.5ct sollitaire brilliant buttttt you get what I mean haha). It would be a beautiful heirloom, etc etc. I also think a pear would have been amazing 😛

@Oklahomagirl: Hmm.. tough choices as I like both cuts. In the end I chose the round brilliant because it won’t hide my wedding band at all.. and it’s just classic!
I heard oval stones can really elongate fingers though if that interests you..!

Thank you ladies! Wouldn’t it be nice to have both? Lol.. Maybe if I ever win the lottery. 😉

if you like something a bit more unique, go with the oval with trillion side stones. it will still have a classy look but with a bit of personality.
i have an oval ering and i love it for that purpose.

OMG you’re making me want an oval! That is soooo pretty!
I just went on google and read that oval cuts have 90% of the sparkliness factor compared to round brilliants. Sparkly is important so that is good to know.
The nice thing about ovals is that they are more unusual and distinctive. I already have my round brilliants, but if I had it all to do over again I would definitely be considering an oval.
Gorgeous! The double prongs are a nice touch, too!

I personally like round stones, but if you want something different, go with oval!

@BelliniChic: thank you! That’s very helpful, yes I love the double claw prongs! I’m not sure if my jeweler could do that bc it’s a Harry Winston design.. Anyone know how that works?

I was going to say round brilliant (because that’s what I have and I’m biased!) but that oval looks beautiful. I have short little fingers so the oval wouldn’t look good on me but if you don’t have kid-sized hands like I do, the oval one would be something different (but just as beautiful)

Round brilliants are my favorite, but ovals are absolutely gorgeous and I love how they are far less common. You can’t go wrong with either, but I’m almost leaning toward the oval!

@sweetlittlebee: I have short stumpy fingers and small hands, and an oval looks way better on me than a round. I tried on my mom’s round brilliant and while I love it on her it looked plain awful on me compared to my oval sapphire.
I vote oval because I’m obviously biased 😛

@Oklahomagirl: Have you tried an oval on?
I guess it’s a good option if you want something a little different. For some reason I just don’t like oval diamonds. Even Blake Lively’s oval is a bit meh to me. Not sure why!

@canarydiamond: I plan to on saturday 🙂 I’m just wanting something different than my current round brilliant.. Although I love round brilliants. like I said if I ever win the lottery..

@Oklahomagirl: I don’t have an engagement ring yet. I am hoping for the Tiffany Soleste with a yellow diamond (cushion).
Oh yes, if I ever win the lottery I hope to own diamonds in every shape hahaha.
