I suffer from ovarian cysts, and I’ve had enough to the point I know exactly when one has burst or is in the process of bursting. I feel awful for you, I know how painful they are!

I’m in no way a medical professional and have never suffered from bleeding from my cysts, but I really think you should get a second opinion.

Also…if you would like to have children one day, get checked to make sure everything is working as it should be. Ovarian cysts can leave severe scarring, which can make concieving difficult/impossible. I need to take my own advice and get checked for fertility issues ASAP, but I’m terrified.

PerfectlyUnperfect:  Burst cysts are something I wouldn’t wish on ANYONE. It was horrifically painful. I had my first one when I was 17 a few months after I had an appendicitis and surgery and it felt like the exact same thing just on the other side.
I ended up in the hospital because the pain was so bad it was making me faint and vomit- also just like my appendicitis.

My doctor put me on a birth control pill for a few months (which made me SUPER SICK) but the upside was even after I discontinued the BC I never got another cyst and the ones I had all disappeared on their own.

That cyst you have is veryyy large. My largest was only about 4cm. They may have to get in there and remove it if it’s not going away on it’s own.

My doctor gave me a lot of options. I would go somewhere else and get a second opinion if your doctor isnt being helpful.

PerfectlyUnperfect:  fellow cyst sufferer here! My heart goes out to you! I know that pain all too well! Please go and get a second opinion! A few friends of mine have been rushed into emergency surgery to remove cysts smaller than the one you have. You don’t want to risk anything as pp’s have said – it can really hurt your ovary if it bursts or isn’t removed.

It is possible a new cyst has appeared since your ultrasound. But it could be a variety of other things. So it’s best to go get yourself checked out – especially since it is stopping you from enjoying things like sex. That’s always a red flag!

Those cysts are no joke! When I had my tubes tied back in January my OB said he couldn’t believe how bad everything looked due to cysts. I’m surprised your doctor didn’t remove it, especially since its so big. You may need to get a second opinion. It needs to be removed, they don’t need to wait til it bursts.

I get cysts as well! I’ve had them rupture and I’ve had them removed. My largest was still smaller than yours (it was somewhere int he 6 cm range), and my GYN told me immediately that she wanted it removed. She said at that size I’d also be at risk for ovarian torsion. She also couldn’t tell if it was fluid filled or exactly what type of cyst it was just by the ultrasound. It ended up being just fluid (not a dermoid cyst thank goodness!) and I had a very easy laparoscopic surgery. I wonder why she didn’t want to remove yours?? Especially if you’re experiencing that much pain/discomfort in addition to the size.

PerfectlyUnperfect:  Its a little concerning that she didn’t remove it. Yeah looking stuff up could scare you more but it also gives you more information on your situation. I’d compare my pain to child birth. It was that bad when mine burst. I’ve had them since I was 15, thats when my dr put me on birth control to help with them. If you can get a second opinion please do so. Its not going to be good if that thing bursts.

Doubled-over, on toilet and throwing up in garbage can at same time… SORRY Too Much Information but u all can understand if it happened to u. I haven’t had children yet like

MrsChapman2015:  but I can imagine that the rupture is on par with labor pains! They sound similar from what I’ve heard..

OP, Your cyst is quite large, I agree with PPs that u should get a second opinion. after mine burst I had to get a pelvic ultrasound and transvaginal one as well and they were able to see that I actually had another one on my right ovary.. So u need to stay on top of it and make sure u cover all ur bases…

MissJulianna:  YES. I have had several burst cysts and the pain has been pretty unreal. Lots of blood with mine. Many doctors not equipped to deal. Emergency room was not helpful to me.
