@melisslp:  Thank you, it is exciting and very nervous at the same time.  I never really actually planned a pregnancy so this is going to be so different.

@melisslp:  I’m happy that you made an appt.  At least you can find out if its an issue other than DOR.  And if you decide to continue w/ TTC or be Great Aunties/Uncles, its what’s best for you.  DH and I decided before we even married that we would try for biological but if that didn’t work, adoption would be next.  I guess that’s one of the reason’s why I’m calm about everything.  One way or another, we’ll be parents.

I’m less than 10 days away from AF starting.  Pretty excited because this will be our first IUI.  I’m hoping that medical intervention works by the end of this year since I do not want to be TTC after this year.  I can’t believe I’ll be 43 next year.  Gosh, I still feel like when I first turned 40:)

@squeak35:  Thank you very much. If feels good to find a place that I can go to and have others who can relate.  Although we have not technically started trying, I am trying to get my body ready.

@Mrs.Jansen:  This is what my Gyn suggested before we started the journey.

  • Start prenatals now and begin eating as healthy as you can.  It takes 90 days for your body to create your new eggs.
  • Start tracking your cycle via a Droid or Iphone program.(Its soo much easier to discuss any issues when you do go talk to your Gyn)
  • Only temp or chart if you desire.  I personally used OPKs which you can buy from the Dollar Store. I chart now because of my AP.
  • Also make sure your DH is also taking a good vitamin.  We often forget that it takes two for the baby tango and zinc is a necessity for healthy sperm.

Its been over a year since I’ve began readying my body so I’m really excited that this month, my RE is giving us the Greenlight:)

@squeak35:  Thank you, I started taking my prenatal vitamins as of yesterday and I am starting to eat healthier and exercise more.  I never thought about having him take any vitamins.  I will make sure he does.

Thank you again for the advice!

@melisslp:  So glad you and your husband are through the rocky period!!!  I am glad you made an appointment, like squeak35 said, if there is something other DOR going on the sonner you know the better!  Keep us posted…  As for me, I am just chilling, AF showed up on Tuesday…totally expected (I mean why would this month be any different) but still upsetting.  You would think I would be used to this by now.  But there is a silver lining…looks like we will be moving forward with IUI w/injectibles after all…thanks to a miracle of sorts.  We have to wait a cycle though so we are in a holding pettern ๐Ÿ™‚  We are going to continue what we are doing, but I think the stress will be much less!!!

@gingersnap25:  We’re basically going to be IUI twins.  I get to start when AF finally shows.  Hopefully early next week so I can do my 2 day testing and then start the meds.

Yes, this is our first try.  After my Sept surgery, I began in Nov but nada was happening.  Had another HSG and the radiologist indicated I had the same intra-uterine mass  as the previous year.  Yeah, I had a WTF moment.  Pulled my records, did my own research, and self-diagnosised myself.(Dr Google really was very helpful)  Since I was already looking to switch RE’s, I supplied my records and confirmed I suffered from Asherman’s Syndrome and had a polyp.  Did my testing which showed I didn’t suffer from DOR or any other hormonal issues.  Had surgery a week after diagnosis, did my 6wk recovery, and now we’ve gotten the greenlight.  This was not the road we expected after the Sept surgery.  Oh well, @ least I have a fighting chance now.

@gingersnap25: Technically I will be starting #6 this month.  If the pills don’t work, I will be trying injectibles the following month.

Ladies, quick question.  So I have read in a few different sites that I cant and can have coffee while trying to conceive.  I have a cup every morning Monday-friday at work.  Some sites say a cup a day is ok and some say quit all together.

Your opinions please?

@Mrs.Jansen:  Personally, I have been both the person that stopped everything, moreso in the beginning of my journey, but now I am in the “do things in moderation” camp now since I have been trying for over a year.  I try to stay away from caffeine anyway, but if I feel like have a cup of coffee I do, especially during my period…drinking a cup right now to be honest.  There is so much mixed info out there it can make your head spin so my suggestion is to do whatever you are comfortable with doing.  I do know that my SIL drank a cup of coffee every morning during her last pregnancy … doctor told her it was ok.
