Amy Elizabeth :  I honestly think you should go talk to a fertility specialist. Get all your fertility stuff checked out. There is always going to be a story about someone who got pregnant naturally over 40. Or a story of a story of a story. Those stories have absolutely nothing to do with you. Go get at least your AMH levels checked and then you can decide what to do.

I agree with other posters. You should go see a RE just to find out what your options are. We hear stories about people eating pregnant naturally >40 y because it’s not the norm, but it is possible.

I froze my eggs twice (at 38 and 39) and am glad I did (haven’t TTC with them yet). There’s always the sense that it’s a gamble whether it will work, but that’s life in general. I was surprisingly fine with the needles, but had a rough recovery after retrieval the first time. If you decide to go for it, don’t be surprised if you become flooded with emotions as you do it – just remember you’re far from the only one doing this! Though it’s still pricey, there are many clinics competing with each other and you can try negotiating costs.

Check out Eggsperience for more stories and speak with an RE. And agree with the above to get your AMH checked. That will give a sense of how many eggs you have remaining. But there’s currently no test for egg quality.

and if your eggs don’t work, there are always donor eggs and adoption to create a wonderful, loving family!
