We are having a small wedding that is well under our means, our budget was originally $4k, we’re at just over $5k. We can still afford it, but it bugs me that we’re over. Balls
Why can’t weddings be cheaper? I’ll stop whining now lol

It’s so frustrating! I’m sorry you went over- although it sounds like you’re still being responsible. I think this is my greatest fear with wedding planning. The prices are SO ridiculous! Think of it as a karma 1K.

This is common– as an event planner, I tell people to outline their overall budget, and then reduce everything by 10% and aim to keep it within that number– instead of their original max amount. This is because fo ralmost everyone, at least 1 or 2 factors will be more than you wanted to spend, but something you’re not willing to compromise on– and with that formula, you have a 10% wiggle.
Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it so long as you’re happy and it’s within your means.

My original tentative budget was around $3000 but I didn’t factor in little things like hair and makeup, the officiant fee, bp jewelry, etc. So I now have a tentative budget of $5000 and hope to come in at $4000 (including honeymoon). I really think I can still get away with $3000 so we’ll see… depends on the catering.

The food is what really put us over. We basically decided it was worth the extra cost to have food that we actually wanted to eat. I feel like its really hard to stay under 4k. Ive read articles about under 5k weddings, but pretty much all those people had a ton of stuff gifted to them, which isn’t the case with me. Even catering yourself gets pretty expensive when you consider how many guests you have to feed. We are still searching for discounts whenever we can
