so, i just feel lately that people are going out of their ways to say something rude or snarky to me. especially my boss, last week i was sick(all week) and by wednesday her only response to me coming to work sick was ‘if you can just concentrate on covering your mouth today, the rest of us don’t want to get sick’ (it’s not like i’m one of those people that just walk around coughing on everyone!)really? if your that concerned send me home!! and today she asked my what my last day was before the wedding. i told her that my last day would be wednesday and that thursday i would be running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get things done. her response to this was ‘well maybe you should just come to work, that way you actually get something done’ come on now! either i’m super sensitive lately or everyone is jerks!!
anyone else get super emotional right before their wedding?

I think you’re just being super sensitive–if you’re not getting your work done, that sounds like something a boss has every right to say. And the sick comment? That’s totally something my boss would say to me! You got a lot on your mind right now!

Those were snarky comments. 🙁
It is a pet peeve of mine, when someone knows or can tell you are sick, and instead of showing concern or empathy that *you’re* not feeling well, they hold up their hands and say, “Stay away, I don’t want to get sick!” It’s like, “Hi. Not about YOU. And don’t flatter yourself. I don’t plan on hugging, kissing, or coughing on YOU.”
Her comments also sound passive aggressive, like it bugs her that you were gone all week, and that you’ll need to be gone for your wedding.
I hope you can brush it off and roll your eyes, because her snarky comments are so much less important than your health and your upcoming wedding and the people who are going to celelbrate with you, both of which will still matter in 5 years, unlike other people’s opinions!

ejs4y8 -i always get my job done, i’m the only nurse in the office, i don’t have a choice! so that would be a very poor excuse!
nature_girl – i am starting to feel that way, like people are getting jealous over certain things, whether it be that i’m taking a week off work, or that i’m having a fantastic wedding, or that my fh and i love each other so much.. hmm, i just don’t understand

If she makes comments like that all the time, that would get on my nerves. Plus, if you are a nurse they should really be more appreciative of you. Around here, nurses are very scarce and can pretty much choose where they work. (Not in snarky environments!) Also, they obviously do not care about their patients health much if they make you work when you aren’t feeling well! Don’t put up with that crap.
